Partridge
The partridge is the newcomer who buys peace at a price. Brought among the fighting cocks, she grieves at her bruises until she sees them fight each other. A fowler's captive, she offers to decoy her own kind and is despised for the offer. She learns whom she lives with, and what loyalty costs. Hers is the wisdom of the guest.
