Woodcutter

The woodcutter is honesty put to the test. He drops his axe in the river and refuses the gold and silver ones Hermes offers — and is rewarded with all three. His imitator drops one on purpose and loses even his own. The trees he asks for a handle end up felled by it. Around him, the fables measure truth and its counterfeits.
