The Horse and the Groom

A groom used to steal his horse's barley and sell it; in return he spent the whole day rubbing and currying it. The horse said to him, "If you really want me to look fine, stop selling the barley meant for my feed."

Greedy people lure poor folk with their seductive talk and flattery, while robbing them of even the necessities.
