The Hungry Dogs

Some hungry dogs saw hides soaking in a river. Unable to reach them, they agreed among themselves to drink up all the water, so as to get at the hides afterwards. But it happened that, from drinking so much, they burst before reaching the hides.

Those who endure dangerous labour for uncertain profit may perish before reaching their goal.
