The Reign of the Lion

A lion became king who was neither angry, nor cruel, nor violent, but gentle and just, like a good man. Under his reign there was a general assembly of the animals, so that they might give and receive satisfaction from one another: the wolf to the sheep, the panther to the chamois, the tiger to the stag, the dog to the hare. The timid hare then said, "I have keenly longed to see this day, so that the weak might appear formidable to the violent."

When justice reigns in the state, and all judgements are fair, the humble too live in peace.
