ENFRESDEIT
FableNº 118

Zeus and Modesty

After fashioning man, Zeus at once placed in him the various inclinations; but he forgot to put in modesty. So, not knowing where to bring it in, he ordered it to enter from behind. Modesty at first balked at this order, which offended her; but at last, on Zeus's pressing insistence, she said, "Very well, I will enter, but on condition that Love does not come in this way too; if he enters, I shall leave at once." That is why, ever since, the debauched are without shame.

Those who fall prey to lust lose all sense of shame.
