Serpent
The serpent is the fable's cold heart. Warmed in a man's bosom, it bites the hand that saved it. It offers Zeus a rose from a mouth no one trusts. Even its tail rebels against its head, to the ruin of both. Where it appears, kindness is spent on the incurable.
