FableNº 345

The Blacksmith and His Dog

A blacksmith had a dog. When he was forging, the dog slept; but when he sat down to eat, the dog came and settled at his side. The blacksmith, having thrown him a bone, said to him, "Lazy creature, always asleep, when I strike my anvil, you sleep; but when I move my jaws, at once you wake up."

The lazy are quick to enjoy the fruits of other people's work.
