FableNº 54

The Blind Man and the Cub

A blind man was used to recognising by touch any animal put into his hands, and to telling what kind it was. One day a wolf cub was held out to him; he felt it and remained uncertain. "I don't know," he said, "whether this is the young of a wolf, a fox, or some other animal of that sort; but what I do know is that it is not made to go with a flock of sheep."

A corrupt nature often reveals itself in outward behaviour.
