The Dog and the Shellfish

A dog used to swallowing eggs, seeing a shellfish, opened his jaws and, snapping them shut violently, swallowed it, taking it for an egg. But as his insides grew heavy, he was in pain and said, "I have only what I deserve, for taking every round object for an egg."

Those who undertake a matter without discernment get themselves tangled, without realising it, in strange difficulties.
