The Heifer and the Ox

A heifer, seeing an ox at work, pitied him for his toil. But when a religious festival came round, the ox was unyoked, and the heifer was seized to be slaughtered. Seeing this, the ox smiled and said to her, "O heifer, this is why you had nothing to do: you were being kept to be sacrificed before long."
