The Peacock and the Jackdaw

The birds were deliberating on the choice of a king. The peacock claimed to have himself named king on account of his beauty, and the birds were about to vote for him, when the jackdaw cried out, "But if, when you reign, the eagle gives us chase, what help shall we be able to expect from you?"

Do not blame those who take precautions against dangers they can foresee.
