The tortoise and the hare were arguing over which was the faster. So they fixed a day and a place, and parted. The hare, trusting in her natural speed, was in no hurry to start: she lay down by the roadside and fell asleep. But the tortoise, aware of her own slowness, never stopped running, and so, overtaking the sleeping hare, she reached the finish and won the prize.
