Zeus and the Jar of Blessings

After shutting all blessings in a jar, Zeus left it in a man's keeping. The man, being curious, wanted to know what was inside; he lifted the lid, and all the blessings flew away up to the gods.

Hope alone remains with men, promising them the blessings that have flown.
