The Dove and the Crow

A dove reared in a dovecote boasted loudly of her fruitfulness. A crow, on hearing her boasts, said to her, "Hey, friend, stop boasting about that; for the more children you have, the more slavery you will have to bewail."

For enslaved people, having more children may mean only more lives condemned to servitude.
