The North Wind and the Sun

The North Wind and the Sun were disputing which of them was the stronger. They agreed to award the prize to whichever could strip a traveller of his clothes. The North Wind began, and blew with all his might; but the harder he blew, the more tightly the man wrapped his cloak around him, and at last, baffled, the Wind gave him up to the Sun. The Sun first shone gently; then, when the man had taken off his extra cloak, it beat down more fiercely, until the man, unable to bear the heat any longer, stripped off his clothes and went to bathe in the nearby river.
