Zeus

Zeus is the ruler the fables appeal to — and quietly mock. Every animal comes to him asking for a gift, a king, a change of lot. He grants the wish and lets the wisher discover its price. The frogs beg for a monarch and receive a stork. His lesson is nearly always the same: be careful what you pray for.
